Wide twists and turns revealing vast sandy islands, alluvium forests covered with plant galleries known as "verdiaux", regularly flooded fields, outcrops of "tuffeau" stone overlooking the countryside... the Loire Valley is multifaceted and changing.

Certain sandbanks heated to more than 50°C by the summer sun allow tropical plants to prosper. An essential migration path for birds and fish, but also for plants, the Loire is wild and productive.
